Tips for Housekeepers
I've been a housekeeper for little over a year. And just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has ever left a tip for housekeepers. You have no idea how those small and simple amounts of money change my day, and life.
I just became a mom a few months ago and not long after my husbands hours were cut at work and he ended up having extremely smaller pay checks then usually. We were struggling to pay the bills and still get food and baby wipes and diapers. One morning I woke up to find we were nearly out of wipes. And I knew we were way negative in the bank, so before I left for work I offered up a prayer. I asked that I'd be able to buy at least one package of wipes that day. As I went about cleaning my assigned rooms that day I found $15 in tips through out all my rooms. I was in shock. Usually I find less then $8 a day. And most days I get only a couple dollars. But that is on the days I actually find tips. But to find that much and after work be able to buy not only one box but two boxes of wipes because it was on sale. I felt very blessed. I have thanked the Lord for providing what I needed that day. But I also want to thank everyone who has ever left tips. $1 goes along way when you have nothing tell payday and even after payday nothing still. When you walk into a hotel room to clean up the mess big or small and see even just $1 it makes your day.
To be completely honest I never even knew you could leave a tip for housekeepers. I wish I had known that all the times that I stayed in hotels in the past. Which hasn't been very much. But know I know that you can, and if I ever stay in another hotel I'll leave the biggest tip I can at that time afford to do. Even if its $20 or more. Because those are the most rare to find. But not only will I leave a tip but a note as well. Because leaving a note makes it so much more meaningful. I once found a note that had a scripture on it that was about how God so loved the world , he gave his only begotten son. And on the note was a heart and it said Jesus loves you. And with it a $5 bill. I know he loves me, but its always nice to receive a small reminder that he is there. Although my favorite note I ever got I put in my journal to keep. A small child had drawn a picture of the hotel and employees. And had written Thank you Housekeepers on it. I don't remember how big the tip was with it. All I remember is that a small child took the time to thank me, even though they never met me, and they dont know me.
I just want to say thank you to those who care enough to leave even a little to thank us for our work.

American
I am American. I love living in the country I do. I love what our country was founded on. Freedom. My parents have taught me many things and among that respect and love for America. For the United States. But as I have grown up my heart breaks. As a little girl in school I loved saying the pledge of allegiance. But the more I grew the less it was said. I went from every morning to every Monday, then to only during assemblies. And one time when I was 15 I saw the most disgraceful thing. A group of boys did the hail Hitler sign during our pledge of allegiance. As I have grown I have come to realize that not everyone loves our homeland. I have realized that not many respect our soldiers. ..our country...our freedoms. And because of this lack of love lack of respect and lack of understanding we have begun to lose our great nation. We the people have selected have chosen a man who considers himself a king over us when he is only the president. Not once but twice we chose this. No not all of us made that choice but the majority did. As you look at your "great" leader ask yourself "what promises has he kept". And then see the damage he has caused. We the people are supposed to rule this land. We the people were given more power then the government when our country was founded. Where is that power know? Where do our voices stand? Do pur voices even matter anymore? I look at my son and I cry inside for the beautiful world I grew up in will most likely be nothing but chaos and mayhem as he grows. I can't help but wonder who he will become in the troubled world ahead. I pray for us all.

Dark Dreams
Rivers cant hold these tears
Oceans can not contain them
as once gone
Now again to return
Seeking out laughter
Seeking out joy
I find I avoid
The hurt from the lies
I avoid the pain from a past
All to real they walk
Walk among my dreams
The memories
Both of a hidden past
And a untold future
They mix and grind
With on one another
Seeming to ignore
To avoid my tears my screams
For a dark past and the unknown
Haunt the dark of my dreams.

Truth...or...Lie
Silent echoes
That sound,
That stab into darkness
Outstretched hands
Seeking. .. reaching
For and to forgiveness.
Not a thought to echo aloud
As silent tears resonate
Alone and unseen...unknown
Tears of a life to be or be not
Choices made of lies. ..of truths
All hidden away in the Lords hand
Where do we stand?
How shalt we choose?
Right....left....up...down..
Forced to choose between a line
Forced to speak a thought
Forced to hide the tears
And yet the unknown awaits
Only he knows the fact from lie
And yet we all are forced
To make our stand
Our stand for truth
Versus our stand for deceit. ..
Which is the pathway of truth...
Which way dare we walk?

Childhood Cancer (Please Share)
I hope this is ok to post because I'd cry if it was deleted.
My name is melissa. I grew up/live in Bloomington. I have 11 year old twins and a 1 year old daughter. I've probably changed your oil in your car if you ever brought it to valvoline and wrapped your gifts at southdale during Christmas season. Its almost a given that Your family has enjoyed many afternoons at nickelodeon universe ( will always be camp snoopy to me ) my dad helped with all the heating and air conditioning there. What I'm getting at is I'm a NORMAL person, I exist.
I thought it was amazing how everyone moved mountains for MacKenzie to give her a birthday she'll never forget.
I've posted in all of the local community facebook garage sale sites regarding my daughter and never get any response. Maybe because I didn't want to go on and on about how serious my daughters situation is because it's sad.
So here goes nothing. .....
My beautiful 1 year old daughter london was diagnosed with CANCER at 3 months old, yes cancer. Her Dr's at minneapolis childrens has been injecting poison in her tiny body for 9 months and still has 15 months left. She got her 1st tooth the same day she had mouth sores and was put on a morphine drip for the pain. I've wiped my daughters tears along with her beautiful long eyelashes that fell out from the chemo. There's no such thing as a diaper rash instead it's a severe skin Breakdown and wears a catheter when the strong chemo is in her body because it will BURN her skin. Instead of putting her hair in a cute ponytail ( she was born with a full head of hair) I've blown her hair off my pillow because it has fallen out not once but twice from chemo. She recently got her molars the same time she was on steroids. She celebrated her 1st birthday at the hospital getting a lumbar puncture with chemo injected into her spine so the cancer doesn't hide out in her spinal fluid. Every drop of chemo she receives is the same poison adults get. Here's where I need your help. I know you can help me because you moved mountains this past weekend for a little girl to celebrate her 10th birthday.
This mountain costs no money to you.
I want my daughter to celebrate her 2nd birthday. As I blew out my daughters 1st birthday candle on April 18th I cried. I cried because she survived.
I woke up this morning and saw my friend who's daughter has the same cancer as london, is running out of options. Hospice is the next and only option if the chemo continues to fail. She won't live to see her 2nd birthday.
I need YOUR help on spreading awareness on childhood cancer. I NEED this post to go viral so people will start taking action and being a voice for our kids who can't even talk. Childhood cancer research only gets 4% funding (3.8% to be exact) everyone thinks childhood cancer is highly curable but it's NOT. Trust me I've seen and met MANY families who have buried there child. Childhood cancer is real! Will u PLEASE help me move mountains? ???? Please join my daughters group #LIFEFORLONDONIf you'd like to be a voice for our kids including my daughter london, a local little girl fighting to see her 2nd birthday.

A Mothers Letter to her Son
A Mothers Letter to her Son
My dear Grandmother wrote this letter to my uncle, who is on his 8th deployment. He encouraged her to share it publicly on facebook with all her friends and family members to read, enjoy and find comfort. After reading it to a group of us at her home during a family visit. Which was followed with a in depth conversation between us and her. I requested permission to share her letter here with all who read my blog. She has given me permission and so I gladly share her message with you all.
I know that not many read my blog or stay up on it. But I know partly that is because I dont write as often as I should and when I do its mostly poetry which is unpopular in todays world. But I encourage all who do find this and read it to share it with all. This letter has comforted not only my family but has found its way to other people who have loved ones in or going to be in a war zone soon. And has brought great comfort to them already. So do feel free to share.
This is copied directly off of facebook the way she wrote it.
"I share this with a certain amount of hesitation, but after thinking about it, felt our friends and family need to know about this strange experience I just had that has changed my outlook on a very troublesome issue. My son having to leave his family and go into danger a a fifth time: I sent this April 19, 2015, to my son, David Joseph Denning, on the eve of his leaving for another deployment overseas in the Air Force:
Dear David, The other day when we were in a class being taught by our dear friend Wayne Brickey, I had an experience where I was 'hearing' on a dual level. One level included the words the teacher was speaking, scriptures, words of wisdom regarding the Savior, etc. The other level was a stream of thoughts coming from outside of me, but inside of my head. It came on the heels of my thought of you going into danger again--and I was thinking 'why? Why? Why?. Then suddenly this second level of thoughts informed me that you, my son, and those who go before, with and after you, are engaged in an extremely important work, not just for honor and duty to your country, but a service that is essential for the preservation of all mankind. I heard this thought and wondered, what? How? I was contemplating that nothing seems in my mind to justify the danger of death or injury to MY son! Well, then I was 'informed' by this intense message that you are engaged in an essential mission to hold back the tide of evil that is building, building, building, with the intent of utterly annihilating all freedom, all that is not only Christian, but God oriented in our society, anywhere in the world. At some point the BIG confrontation will come and evil will be eliminated, however, that end time is not yet; but without the present efforts of a few (you and all those sent forth), evil would just sweep over all humanity without any resistance. So, futile though it may seem, under present circumstances, your work it is not futile, but essential and blessed from on high by the Lord of ALL. These thoughts moved out the self-pitying feelings from my heart, leaving me aware of how small and puny we are in the large scope of the great destiny of humanity--God's in Heaven, but He is aware and cares for each of us individually as well as collectively. It is impossible for me to put words together to express all that I both heard and felt in the moments this message was given to me. All I can say is you and I have something very special as mother and son, and we are blessed in that. Also, the work you have to do is of great importance, not just in the big picture of war against evil, but in the day by day interaction with those you are going there to lead. Your example will live long after you or they have passed from this earth, for the gifts you have of cheerful endurance, grit and forbearance, courage and humility, honor and integrity will leave in those you work with an undefinable spark that will rise in them and be passed to their posterity in ways we cannot now realize. Trust in God to take care of your family, your friends and loved ones at home while He also will take care of all who you care about, wherever you are. I am so grateful you came to be my son. I love you with unshakable and eternal love. Go forth to serve in war or peace, in danger or safety, in all circumstances, with confidence, not in yourself, but in your place in the great big picture. We, Dad and I, are with you without reservation. Forever, your parents.

After I sent this I read it over and think I must add this thought as well. I want so much for you to go and come back unscathed by dangers you will be in. And for all those you care about there to be safe as well--however, that is not the point is it? The fact is some may meet their earthly end through the perils of war--don't rest your faith on the idea that can't happen or won't. Rest your faith on the knowledge that the Savior, Jesus Christ, knows all that is going on, and HIS work is greater than anything man or devils can do. I have no power to prevent you from being sent to participate in this awful conflict, but I have comfort knowing that wherever you go and whatever happens, you will be sustained, inspired as needed, protected for HIS purposes, and that you have been prepared and are ready for the work ahead of you by training and by your incredible inner strengths built up not only through adversity, but also through many wonderful good things, most of all, through the love your MOTHER has for you. Adieu.
When David got this message he called me on the phone. He was crying and I was crying, but it was not from extreme sorrow, it was from pure love and appreciation for one another. He knows how I dread his going and I know how he dreads going—but we both know that whatever the outcome, we can and will endure.
It isn’t that I won’t worry. I will. But I won’t panic.
David, I was in tears when I wrote this and again re-reading it. It meant the world to me to talk with you on the phone following this exchange. God, please answer this mother's prayers, and the hundreds of others who will be praying for you and those with whom you serve, and the families and friends who sacrifice for a cause greater than we can imagine.."
